If you're after a warm, cosy fleece that ticks serious sustainability boxes without sacrificing style - this is it. BAM’s 73 Zero Full Zip Fleece in Oat offers plush borg-style fleece with a soft brushed interior that wraps you in cloud‑level comfort.

First off, this fleece means business. At 335gsm, it's a proper heavyweight borg fleece offering serious insulation for campfire evenings, coastal hikes, and crisp autumn dog walks.

It also has sustainability built right into it's design, being 100% circular as part of BAM's 73 Zero Range. Every component right down to the last thread is fully recyclable, and when it’s finally worn out, BAM offers a free take-back scheme so it can be responsibly recycled instead of ending up in landfill.

"As part of our 73 Zero circular range, this item is certified by the Circular Textiles Foundation. This means we’ve not only designed it to be recycled, we’ve guaranteed there is a facility that can recycle it and you can send it back for free with our 73 Zero Take-Back Scheme."

Unzipping The Details

It features a double‑ended zip, flattering curved hem, and roomy hand-warming pockets. The relaxed cut, high neck and subtle bell sleeves give it an elevated oversized look that’s far more flattering than those straight-up-and-down, bog-standard fleece styles.

🧵 Made from 100% recycled polyester: Soft, warm and chunky borg fleece with a brushed inner. No animal fibres means it's also vegan friendly!

♻️ 73 Zero Circular Collection: Certified fully recyclable design (including stitching & cords) for zero landfill.

🔄 Circular Textiles Foundation Certified:  Free take-back scheme ensures full recycling at end of life.

🌫️ Heavyweight Thermal Insulation:  Double-faced 335gsm fleece built to keep you cosy in colder conditions.

🌍 Low-impact Care: Machine washable at 30°C (use with a Guppyfriend wash bag to reduce microfibre shedding.)

Certified B Corp: Meeting high environmental and ethical standards across it's supply chain.

🧵 Ethically Made: Made in an audited factory in Turkey, ensuring fair pay and safe conditions.

📊 Impact Reporting: Transparent reporting in their Annual Impact Positive Report.

Why recycled polyester?

Recycled polyester gives plastic bottles a second life—turning waste into warmth. It uses far less energy and water than virgin polyester, slashes carbon emissions, and keeps plastic from ending up in oceans or landfill. BAM also encourages customers to wash their fleece inside a Guppyfriend wash bag to reduce microplastic shedding and protect waterways.

Styles

This fleece comes in a relaxed over-sized fit with a curved hem and dropped shoulder for easy layering. The Oat shade gives a soft, neutral tone that works effortlessly with basically everything. It’s also available in Lavender Violet and Zephyr Print pictured below.

Cost

At £95, it’s a solid mid-range investment for a heavyweight fleece made entirely from recycled materials. You’ll get free UK delivery over £50, 30-day returns, and don’t forget to use our 10% discount code too! Bonus: the other colourways are currently on sale, so it’s a great time to grab one.

Packaging

Everything is 100% recyclable or compostable. The delivery bag is made from a durable brown paper with a home compostable bag which can also go in your food waste bin. The labels are all made from recyclable card - and not forgetting the fleece itself is 100% recyclable! I also love that BAM have incredibly clear messaging and instructions on their packaging so you know exactly what to do with it.

BAM 73 Zero Fleece Review

First Thoughts

Let me just say: this fleece is seriously snuggly. Think teddy bear meets planet-friendly hiker. It's warm, soft, and chunky in all the right ways, like wearing your favourite blanket, but socially acceptable in public.

So far I've worn it by the coast, on early morning dog walks and as a cosy extra layer around the house. It keeps you toasty but it's also very breathable. The high neck collar shields you from the wind, and the double-ended zip gives you a bit of flexibility for movement or venting.

Perfect for layering, whether you're heading outdoors or just need a reliable fleece for the school run or working from home with the heating off (you know the vibe).

This is a fleece that goes with literally anything, and is perfect for everyday wear.

Fit & Feel

I went for the Medium (I'm a size 10) so I could've got away with the small but I wanted this to have a bit of room to wear on top of other layers. It has a relaxed, roomy silhouette with an oversized look without feeling drowned in it.

It fits beautifully - it's roomy enough to layer a chunky knit underneath, but still very flattering on it's own thanks to the curved hem and slightly dropped shoulders. The oat colour is a dream - soft, creamy, and goes with absolutely everything! It’s also got two big pockets which are actually fleece-lined, meaning cold hands get an instant warm up.

The Fluff Test (aka washing)

After a couple of wears, I gave it a wash on 30°C using my Guppyfriend bag and it came out as soft and fluffy as before. No shrinkage, no weird texture changes, just reliable fluffy fleece. BAM gets big points here for clear wash care instructions and reminding people about  microplastics—something most brands conveniently ignore.

Will it last?

Other reviews report reliable durability and long-term warmth. The material density, reinforced zips, and simple design minimise wear points. And once it has you can return for FREE with their take-back scheme. After a few washes on mine so far it's looking just as good as the first wear!

What other people are saying...

.

Would I recommend it?

Yes! If you're looking for a sustainable, cosy fleece that actually cares about where it ends up at the end of it's life, this one is it.

I genuinely love BAM’s 73 Zero mission and the fact they’ve thought through everything—from fully recyclable design to traceable impact reporting.

This is the kind of fleece that lasts, looks good for years, and feels like it’s giving you a warm hug every time you throw it on.

The verdict? If you’re after a wardrobe staple that’s warm in more ways than one—this is it. Comfy, conscious and circular. Big winter win. ❄️
